Understanding the user interface

You configure Meridian Project Portal through the same web interface that users use. The general layout of the configuration user interface is similar to the Meridian Project Portal document management user interface as shown in the following figure. The navigation (left) frame shows a folder structure of the configuration settings that are available to the current user. The two root-level folders group the settings into two configuration trees: an installation-wide tree and a workspace-specific tree. Some of the settings appear in both trees but affect only the parent scope. Clicking a folder in the navigation frame opens it for viewing and editing in the detail (right) frame.

The following table describes the major features of the user interface and refers to other topics that describe the features in more detail.

All registered Meridian Project Portal users can perform at least some level of configuration regardless of their access rights. The amount of the configuration tree that they see depends on their access rights. When workspace administrators and members of privileged groups click Settings, they can configure the workspace settings in addition to their personal settings. Non-privileged users may only configure their personal user information, notification preferences, and user interface settings. For more information about configuring personal settings, see the BlueCielo Meridian Project Portal User's Guide.
